(Fri 20 Jun 08) The diesel version of the smart fortwo city car will be sold in the UK from February next year.
The fortwo cdi has a maximum power output of 45bhp, so don't expect to be able to out-accelerate anything else on the road. The important thing about the cdi is that has combined fuel economy of 85.6mpg and produces 88g/km of CO2 - the lowest of any production car in the world (other than purely electric ones) and well below the point where owners will be asked to pay VED or congestion charges.
