(Mon 23 Jun 08) The Peugeot 207 CC was the highest-scoring car in a recent safety test involving small convertibles.
Germany organisation ADAC put the cars through a simulated rollover and concluded that the Peugeot offered most protection to its occupants. That was partly due to the high levels of safety equipment, but also largely because of the way the rear roll bars extend upwards by 20cm in less than a fifth of a second if the car senses that it is about to flip. The extended bars, along with the strengthened windscreen pillars, effectively create a "survival zone" to match that of an ordinary hatchback.
