(Wed 05 Mar 08) The successor to the discontinued three-door Toyota RAV4 is making its European debut at the Geneva Show this week.
As its name suggests, the five-seat Urban Cruiser is aimed, in Toyota's words, at "the urban all-road market". Don't expect to leave Land Rover Defenders in your wake as you storm across the Sahara, therefore, but do expect a certain amount of off-road ability thanks to the underbody protection, SUV-ish ride height and four-wheel drive. Very few technical details have been confirmed at this stage, but Toyota says it expects the production Urban Cruiser to have CO2 emissions of less than 140g/km (a figure which itself represents Toyota's target average across its range by 2009). The Urban Cruiser will go on sale in the UK in the first half of next year. Toyota Gallery Previous: Dacia Sandero European Debut Next: Hyundai MPV Concept |
