(Wed 12 Mar 08) The GEN-2 five-door hatchback has been on the UK market for a few years now, and from the end of this month it's being joined by a new four-door saloon version.
The saloon is called the GEN-2 Persona (recalling a model name Proton used a long time ago). It shares the 110bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine also used in the hatchback, along with a five-speed manual gearbox or, for an extra £800, a four-speed automatic. There is only one trim level, which includes a 60:40 split folding rear seat, climate control air-conditioning with pollen filter, an MP3-compatible audio system, side impact protection bars and rear parking sensors. Prices are £10,795 for the manual version and £11,595 for the automatic, though Proton is making an introductory £1000 discount offer. |
