(Tue 25 Mar 08) The Hyundai Genesis which appeared as a concept car late last year (see news story) has been confirmed as going into production, and may be sold in the UK if there's enough demand.
The rear-wheel drive Genesis will be sold with a choice of engines - a 220bhp two-litre turbo and a naturally-aspirated 306bhp 3.8-litre V6. Both will be available with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, with automatics (five-speed for the turbo, six-speed for the V6) also on offer as options. Sales will start in South Korea and North America early next year, and there's talk of the Genesis reaching this country a few months later. "We would love to be able to bring this amazing car to the UK," says Hyundai UK Managing Director Tony Whitehorn, "and are keeping a close eye on public reaction to see if there is demand from British driving enthusiasts."
