(Mon 31 Mar 08) The Mitsubishi Outlander already shares much of its technology with the Lancer Evolution X (they share the same platform, for example), and that trend is continuing with the introduction of the Evo's twin-clutch SST gearbox to the SUV.
The Outlander will therefore become the first car in its class to be fitted with a transmission of this type. Gears can be changed automatically, in Normal or Sport modes, or manually by using either the gearlever or the paddle shifts mounted behind the steering wheel. A 2.2-litre turbo diesel Outlander fitted with SST will be displayed at the Paris Show in October this year, and sales will begin in early 2009. UK prices have not yet been confirmed, but the £2000 premium for SST in the Evo is likely to apply with the Outlander too.
