(Fri 02 May 08) Mazda has simplified the line-up of the C-segment 3 and brought the number of available models down from 14 to nine.
Most of the remaining models are better-equipped than before. The entry-level S, for example, which kicks things off at £11,440, now has an auxiliary audio jack, a 12v power socket and an MP3-compatible CD player. The Mazda3 TS has been discontinued and replaced by the Takara, which comes with 1.6-litre petrol or diesel engines (both producing similar outputs of around 105bhp) and has more standard equipment than the TS did. The 2.0 Sport, also available in petrol or diesel forms, now comes with leather seats, and there's a new 1.6 Sport model (petrol only) which has nearly as much equipment as the 2.0 Sport but is significantly cheaper at £15,205 and will cost much less to run. The range-topping Mazda3 MPS is mechanically unchanged but now has dark-finished 18" alloy wheels and half-leather, half-alcantara sports seats. |
