(Tue 06 May 08) Ford has introduced a new model to the top of the Mondeo range. The Titanium X Sport comes with a choice of two engines; there's the 2.5-litre turbo petrol unit borrowed from Volvo and already used in, for example, the Focus ST, but Ford expects that most customers will opt for the new 173bhp 2.2 TDCi turbo diesel.
Although it's substantially less powerful than the petrol engine, the diesel still has enough grunt to give the Mondeo a top speed of 139mph and push it from 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds. Combined fuel economy is 45.6mpg and the CO2 rating is 165g/km. Standard equipment includes 18" alloy wheels, twin chromed exhaust tailpipes, body-coloured side skirts, leather/alcantara upholstery, a 6-disc CD player, voice control, automatic wipers and headlights, front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, bi-xenon headlights, alloy pedals and sports suspension. Priced from £23,355, the Titanium X Sport is available to order now in five-door hatchback and estate body styles. Previous: New Engine For Vauxhall VXR8 Next: Nissan Qashqai Challenge |
