(Thu 08 May 08) For the eighth consecutive year, Lexus has been rated top manufacturer in the J D Power/What Car? UK Car Customer Satisfaction Index Study.
The Study is based on research conducted among more than 16,000 people who have owned their cars for an average of two years. Points are awarded for no fewer than 77 attributes grouped into four sections: in order of importance, quality and reliability, vehicle appeal, dealer service satisfaction and ownership costs. The maximum possible score is 1000 points. This year, Lexus scored 866 points, four more than in 2007, and 20 more than its nearest rival. This margin is far greater than the gap between any other two manufacturers appearing consecutively on the list. Skoda has always done well in this survey, and this year it came second with 846 points. Honda was next on 844 points, and the other manufacturers in the top six were Toyota (836), Jaguar (833) and Mercedes-Benz (828). At the other end of the scale, Fiat achieved the lowest score of the listed manufacturers on 774 points. Only slightly better were Mitsubishi (775), Chevrolet (779), Kia (780), Citroen (784) and Peugeot and Renault (tied on 785).
