(Fri 09 May 08) Hyundai's new i800 MPV, which can seat eight people in standard form, goes on sale in the UK on June 20 priced at £19,495.
The i800 has two front passenger seats as normal, with two further rows of three seats each behind them. Not all of them look as if they will carry a full-sized adult in much comfort, but even the narrowest (in the middle of the back row) should be suitable for children. Even with all the seats in their upright position, there's still 851 litres of luggage space, though that's largely because of the i800's considerable height. Hyundai hasn't so far quoted volumes with the seats folded, but we imagine they will be spectacular. The engine is a 168bhp 2.5-litre turbo diesel, and the official combined fuel economy figure is 33.2mpg. A less powerful, less well-equipped and even cheaper version will be introduced later this year. The standard Hyundai five-year unlimited-mileage warranty applies in each case. |
