| Ferrari Reveals California | ||

(Tue 13 May 08) Ferrari has issued the first pictures of its new sports car, the California. A two-seater with a folding hardtop roof, it uses a 4.3-litre V8 engine which, for the first time in Ferrari history, is mounted in the "mid-front" position, well back in the forward half of the car.
This engine drives the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The F1-Trac traction control system, first seen on the 599 GTB Fiorano, is being used here in a slightly modified form. The only performance figure Ferrari has so far hinted at is a 0-62mph time of "less than four seconds", but the company is also stressing that ride quality has been a major factor in the design of the car. The Ferrari California will officially be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September this year. |
