Nissan's Pivo concept car will be making a rare appearance in this country when it becomes part of an exhibition called The Science of Survival at the Science Museum.

"We are thrilled to be bringing the future of driving to the exhibition," says exhibition CEO Sara Milne, "and are very grateful to Nissan for presenting us with Pivo for this special display during half-term week. The Science of Survival highlights the latest thinking in environmental inventions and devices and Pivo is a wonderful example of creativity with the benefit of the planet in mind. It is entirely fitting that Pivo becomes part of the exhibition."

The Pivo's environmental talking-point is the fact that it has no engine, but gets its power from a lithium-ion battery. It's better known, however, for the fact that it has no reverse gear; instead, the passenger compartment swivels through 360 degrees, so the driver can always be looking forwards no matter which way the car is pointing.

If you want to see the Pivo you'll have to fit in a visit between Saturday 24 May and Sunday 1 June, but The Science of Survival itself goes on until early November before being taken on an international tour. More details at www.scienceof.com.
