(Tue 20 May 08) The S-MAX and Galaxy have become the latest Fords to be fitted with the 173bhp 2.2-litre TDCi turbo diesel engine.
This is one of several upgrades for the two seven-seaters. All versions now come with Bluetooth mobile phone connectivity as standard, while Chill, Morello (aubergine), Blazer Blue and Hypnotic Silver have been added to the colour choices. Two-litre turbo diesel engines in models with automatic transmission have now been boosted by 10bhp to 138bhp, and you can now have a two-litre FlexiFuel engine which runs on, according to Ford, "any mix" of petrol and bioethanol. Entry-level versions of the S-MAX and Galaxy are now known as Edge rather than LX, in line with other Ford models. The Galaxy Ghia now has ten-spoke 17" alloy wheels, ambient lighting, a solar reflective windscreen and rear air-conditioning as standard, and there's a new Ghia X Plus Pack which includes 18" wheels, bi-xenon headlights and powered rear quarter windows. In the S-MAX range, the Titanium trim now gets the solar reflective windscreen, ambient lighting and chrome doorhandles as standard. Bi-xenon headlights are included in the Titanium X Pack.
