(Tue 20 May 08) As revealed earlier this month (see separate story), UK company Prodrive has been working on the Alfa Brera to make it more sporty.
Alfa has now released more details about the resulting limited edition car, which is being called the Brera S. Available with the 185bhp 2.2-litre four-cylinder or 260bhp 3.2-litre V6 engines, it's fitted with lightweight 19" alloy wheels and various lightened suspension components (including hollow anti-roll bars), while the suspension has been thoroughly reworked and gives the S a ride height 10mm lower than that of the standard Brera. Power outputs are unchanged, but the Brera S has had its exhaust altered to produce a sportier note from both engines. Inside, there's Frau leather upholstery with red stitching, aluminium pedals and a leather sports steering wheel with radio controls. The 3.2 V6 has a leather-covered dashboard as standard, and this can be specified as an option on the 3.2. Just 500 examples will be built, and prices start at £24,950 for the 2.2, or £26,450 if you want the leather dashboard. The 3.2 costs £28,450.
