| Calling For Help | ||

(Wed 21 May 08) Car parts company Unipart has developed a device which will let a car call for help in the event of theft or a serious accident.
If the car is involved in a crash, Neo-Trac detects the unusual change in movement (including a rollover) and alerts the staff at the Neo-Trac Secure Operating Centre, who then contact the police station nearest to the incident, potentially saving the life of the driver if he or she is unconscious and nobody else is around to help. Neo-Trac also allows police to track a stolen car without the thieves knowing about it. When the car stops, the system can prevent the engine from restarting, which for obvious reasons makes recovery a lot easier. Buying and installing Neo-Trac costs £615 including VAT, and at the time of order you also pay for either one or three years' worth of service. Three years is the minimum contract, and if you pay for the whole period at once it costs £499.50, making a total cost of £1114.50. Alternatively you can pay £185 annually, which brings the total to £1170. For more details visit www.neo-trac.co.uk. |
