(Thu 22 May 08) As is often the case in these situations, Subaru has had to continue rallying the discontinued Impreza for several months after the new model was launched.
This is the kind of thing that gives marketing departments the shivers, so there will be some relief within the company that works drivers Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson will give the new Impreza its competition debut in the Acropolis Rally, the Greek round of the World Rally Championship which runs from May 29 to June 1. Subaru also has taken the opportunity to revise its long-standing rally livery. The base colour will be blue, as before, but the Subaru name logo will now feature more prominently, with white and silver lines rising diagonally towards the rear of the car. The new Impreza's hatchback body shape has proved to be more confidential than that of the previous saloon, but perhaps visions of the rally version flashing across our television screens will help to make the road car look more cool.
