(Mon 26 May 08) Audi is revealing an updated version of its TT clubsport quattro at this month's Wörthersee Tour in Austria.
Based on the TT Roadster, the clubsport has near-invisible A pillars, suggesting a wraparound windscreen, along with large rollover bars, two humps where the compartment for the folding roof normally goes on the production car, a front lip spoiler, a diffuser-style rear bumpers and polished 19" alloy wheels fitted with 255/35 tyres. Under the bonnet there's a 296bhp version of the Volkswagen Group's 2.0 TFSI turbocharged petrol engine, which drives all four wheels through an S tronic twin-clutch gearbox. The brake system, including 340mm front and 310mm rear discs, has been taken from the TTS. For the moment, the clubsport is strictly a show car, though those teasing young scamps at Audi have said that small-scale production "hasn't been ruled out". |
