(Sun 02 Nov 08) The new Ford Fiesta has been named Scottish Car of the Year for 2008 by the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers.
This is a second consecutive win in Scotland for Ford, which won the same award last year with the Mondeo. "To win the Scottish Car of the Year once is a marvellous achievement," said ASMW President Bill Caven (pictured, left, with Ian Slater, Vice-President Communications and Public Affairs for Ford Europe). "However, to triumph again the following year is simply unbelievable. "Ford has maintained from the outset that the new Fiesta would set the benchmark in its sector. It has certainly delivered big time and been true to its word. This is going to be an enormous seller in the coming months, and deservedly so." The Fiesta also won the Small Cars category, while the Jaguar XF was top in Luxury and Diesel. Other winners were the Mazda6 (Family), Ford Kuga (SUV), Nissan Qashqai+2 (MPV), Audi A3 Cabriolet (Drop Top) and Volkswagen Scirocco (Sporting).
