(Thu 27 Nov 08) Fiat has just built its millionth example of the Grande Punto, three years after production started at the Melfi factory in Italy. The car is a 1.4 T-Jet 120 Sporting painted in Passionate Red, and will be sold in the UK.
A quarter of all Grande Puntos built so far have been either Sporting or GT models, and of those 14% have been customised using the stickers which Fiat sells as optional extras. The original Punto was built between 1993 and 1999. 3.5 million of those cars were produced, while the 1999-on version (still sold in some markets as the Punto Classic) has passed the 3 million mark. |
