(Thu 02 Oct 08) Nissan has used the Paris Show to unveil what will become the smallest car in its range.
The Pixo if a five-door, four-seat hatchback with a one-litre engine which, when mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, gives the car combined fuel economy of 61.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 103g/km, leading to an annual car tax rating of £35. A less economical but more convenient automatic version will also be available. If this sounds familiar, you're probably thinking about the Suzuki Alto, which is dealt with in a separate story. In fact the Pixo and the Alto are effectively the same car, though with different styling, and Suzuki will build them both at its factory in India. The Pixo will be sold in Visia and Acenta trim levels. Both come with power steering, ISOFIX child seat fixings, a tilt-adjustable steering column and four cupholders, while the Acenta also has keyless entry, a CD/MP3 player, electric front windows, a split-folding rear seat, front foglights and side airbags. Prices will be announced nearer the car's launch in the second quarter of 2009. Nissan Gallery Previous: Front-Wheel Drive Volvo XC60 Next: Lexus Convertible At Paris |
