(Thu 02 Oct 08) Lexus has unveiled a coupé-convertible version of the IS 250 saloon at the Paris Show. Named the IS 250C, it has a three-piece folding aluminium roof which folds up or down in a class-leading 20 seconds.
Folding roofs have to be stored somewhere, and they generally have an alarming effect on luggage capacity. Lexus has got round this by extending the rear of the car by 50mm to allow for a larger boot; the doors are also 300mm longer than those of the saloon to improve access to the back seats. Under the bonnet there's a 205bhp 2.5-litre V6 petrol engine carried over from the saloon, while gearchanging is looked after by a six-speed automatic transmission. Pricing has yet to be confirmed, but Lexus says that European sales of the IS 250C will begin next summer. |
