(Wed 29 Oct 08) The new Ford Ka will go on sale in the UK in January at prices starting from £7995, undercutting the closely-related Fiat 500 which is built in the same factory.
There will be four trim levels, called Studio, Style, Style+ and Zetec, and they all come with a 69bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine which gives combined fuel economy of 55.4mpg and CO2 emissions of 119g/km, putting the car in the £35-per-year Band B in the VED tax structure.
Zetec, which at £9495 is the most expensive of the four, is also expected to be the most popular, with its 15" alloy wheels, front foglights, remote central locking, upgraded trip computer and theatre-style dimming interior lights. It's also the only one in which Ford is offering, for an extra £700, the 1.3-litre turbo diesel engine, which has official economy and CO2 figures of 67.3mpg and 112g/km.
