Dual-Fuel Proton

(Mon 01 Sep 08)

Proton is expanding its GEN-2 range with two ecoLogic models which can run on either petrol or LPG.

Proton GEN-2 10 - ecoLogic.

LPG Protons are nothing new - Humberside Police has been running them for more than a decade - but this is the first time the GEN-2 has been made available to the public in this form. An LPG conversion might cost up to £2000 if done properly, but the ecoLogic cars are the same price as their petrol-only equivalents at £10,795 for the saloon and £10,995 for the hatchback.

Proton acknowledges that the ecoLogic models are less economical on LPG than they are on petrol, but the price gap between the two fuels is so wide that annual savings of up to £500 are possible. To sweeten the deal still further, Proton is temporarily offering black leather upholstery on the ecoLogic cars - normally a £1000 option - for free.
