(Tue 02 Sep 08) Kia has confirmed the engine line-up for its new Soul, which makes its world debut at the Paris Show in October.
In the UK and other European markets, the Soul will have a choice of 1.6-litre petrol and turbo diesel engines, both producing a maximum of 124bhp (which, in the case of the diesel, means an 11bhp increase from the output of the same unit as fitted to the cee'd range). Some other countries will also get a 140bhp two-litre petrol engine, but there's no suggestion at this point of that one being sold here. Soul production will start in Korea in November, but UK customers will have to wait until next spring before right-hand drive versions reach dealerships. From that point, the Soul will be "a 'must-have' for everyone from young singles and couples to more mature motorists who insist on putting fun into their driving," according to Kia UK Managing Director Paul Philpott.
