There's still just under a month left to register for the 2009 Land Rover G4 Challenge - if you're hard enough, that is.

The Challenge lasts three weeks and takes place in Mongolia, on terrain ranging from mountains to the Gobi desert. Before any of that, though, there's the matter of earning a place on the UK team. To do that you have to take part in the National Selections in November this year, from which two men and two women will be chosen to move on to the International Selections early in 2009.

You'll have to be pretty handy at off-road driving, of course, but there's more to it than that. The Challenge also involves kayaking, mountain biking, abseiling, climbing and orienteering. Being able to make a nice cup of tea is useful but not essential.
