(Fri 18 Sep 08) The second-generation Nissan Murano goes on sale in the UK on October 1 priced from £32,795. The term "priced from" suggests that Nissan has had a change of policy; there was, after all, only one version of the original Murano, and Nissan made a point of saying that the only choice the customer had was in the choice of colour.
Sure enough, this time round the ranged has doubled in size. You can have a Murano with a two-part sunroof, for the £32,795 mentioned above, or you can have one with a roof-mounted DVD for £33,295. Apart from that, the choice is as limited before. If you don't like 18" alloy wheels, DVD satellite navigation, rear privacy glass, bi-xenon headlights, cruise control, an in-dash 6-CD player with Aux In socket, keyless access, memory functions for the position of the front seats and steering wheel, a premium Bose audio system with ten speakers, a reversing camera or an innovative kerb camera mounted in the passenger door mirror, bad luck, because they're all supplied as standard. As before, the Murano has a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine, a CVT transmission and four-wheel drive, but there have been improvements here, with the result that the second Murano is faster than the first (0-62mph in 8.0 seconds, top speed 130mph) as well as being more economical (25.9mpg) and less CO2-ish (261g/km). |
