New Nissan Murano

(Fri 18 Sep 08)

The second-generation Nissan Murano goes on sale in the UK on October 1 priced from £32,795. The term "priced from" suggests that Nissan has had a change of policy; there was, after all, only one version of the original Murano, and Nissan made a point of saying that the only choice the customer had was in the choice of colour.

Nissan Murano 08.

Sure enough, this time round the ranged has doubled in size. You can have a Murano with a two-part sunroof, for the £32,795 mentioned above, or you can have one with a roof-mounted DVD for £33,295.

Apart from that, the choice is as limited before. If you don't like 18" alloy wheels, DVD satellite navigation, rear privacy glass, bi-xenon headlights, cruise control, an in-dash 6-CD player with Aux In socket, keyless access, memory functions for the position of the front seats and steering wheel, a premium Bose audio system with ten speakers, a reversing camera or an innovative kerb camera mounted in the passenger door mirror, bad luck, because they're all supplied as standard.

As before, the Murano has a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine, a CVT transmission and four-wheel drive, but there have been improvements here, with the result that the second Murano is faster than the first (0-62mph in 8.0 seconds, top speed 130mph) as well as being more economical (25.9mpg) and less CO2-ish (261g/km).
