(Thu 25 Sep 08) Maserati has revealed the most powerful version yet of the GranTurismo. Known as the MC Concept, it's very much a track car - all those extra body bits have been added with the specific purpose of directing the air to where it's needed for the purposes of cooling or downforce.
The 4.7-litre V8 engine has been modified to produce 450bhp, while the use of composite body panels and Lexan windows bring the overall weight down to below 1400kg. Maserati hasn't issued performance figures, but this is certainly not going to be a slow car. Inside, the driver's seat has been moved back to improve weight distribution. Safety features include a welded-in rollcage, a special fuel tank approved for international motorsport and a HANS device to protect the driver's head and neck in the event of a crash. |
