(Tue 30 Sep 08) Audi has introduced the S tronic seven-speed dual-clutch semi-automatic gearbox to the Audi S3. Apart from giving the driver's left leg less to do, S tronic also improves the car's acceleration, fuel economy and CO2 emissions.
For example, the hatchback version is 0.2 seconds quicker from rest to 62mph than the manual, at 5.5 seconds (top speed is limited to 155mph in each case) while combined fuel economy and CO2 are now 34.0mpg and 193g/km respectively. The hatch costs £28,290, or £1450 more than the manual. The Sportback estate with S tronic has a similar price increase to £29,420.
