(Fri 03 Apr 09) It won't go on sale here until next year, but the new Kia Sorento SUV has made its world debut at the Seoul Motor Show.
Unlike the current Sorento, which has a body mounted on a separate chassis, the new one has a one-piece body construction, and its design briefs include improved performance, economy, exhaust emissions, safety, handling and space (including a 15% increase in luggage capacity, to a maximum of 2052 litres, and seven seats). There are four engines in the range, but the two most likely to be sold in Europe are 172bhp 2.4-litre and 194bhp 2.2-litre turbo diesels (yes, the smaller one is also the more powerful). A 2.7-litre V6 running on LPG is intended only for Korea, and although a 273bhp 3.5-litre petrol V6 will be available in several countries it probably won't make it over here. |
