| Big Diesel For Mazda2 | ||

(Wed 22 Apr 09) Mazda has doubled the amount of diesel choice in its 2 range by introducing an 89bhp 1.6-litre unit alongside the existing 67bhp 1.4.
Officially (though probably not in real-world driving conditions) the 1.6 is very nearly as economical as the 1.4, with a combined figure of 67.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 112g/km, the latter figure putting it in the £35 Band B for VED. But it's also significantly quicker, accelerating from 0-62mph in 11.4 seconds. The 1.6 diesel is available only in the range-topping Sport trim, which includes 16" alloy wheels, a bodykit, traction control, Dynamic Stability Control, front foglights, automatic headlights and wipers, a trip computer and climate control air-conditioning. In three-door form it costs £12,817, or you can have the five-door version for £13,317. The only options are black paint at £250 and metallic/mica paint at £385. |
