(Mon 03 Aug 09) Mitsubishi has added two more models to its Outlander SUV range, both of them fitted with Volkswagen's 138bhp two-litre turbo diesel engine.
The SE comes with 18" alloy wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, privacy glass and side and curtain airbags, and costs £19,999, or exactly the same as the present entry-level 2.0 diesel Equippe. The main difference between the two is that the Equippe has five seats while the SE has seven, so what's happening here is that you can have the extra pair of seats at no extra cost. At first sight that would appear to make the Equippe completely pointless, but according to Mitsubishi it is - and will remain - the popular choice among fleet buyers. Private customers will probably go for the SE instead. The other new Outlander is called the GSE, and it's exactly the same as the SE except that it has leather seats and a roof-mounted DVD player for the benefit of rear passengers. It costs £21,499 and is therefore the third cheapest model in the range after the Equippe and SE.
