(Fri 07 Aug 09) The seventh-generation Porsche 911 Turbo will be publicly unveiled at the Frankfurt Show next month, and will go on sale in the UK on November 21.
At the heart of the car is a new 3.8-litre engine with direct fuel injection and twin variable-turbine turbochargers. It produces a maximum of 500bhp and gives the car a top speed of 194mph and a 0-62mph time of 3.4 seconds. This makes it slightly quicker than the current Turbo, but for various reasons - including the fact that it's lighter - it is also more economical, with combined fuel consumption of just over 24mpg.
The 911 Turbo is priced from £101,823 for the Coupé and £109,048 for the Cabriolet. For that you get a touch-screen communication management system with Bluetooth and iPod connectivity and a Thatcham Category 5 standard vehicle tracking system. Options include the familiar Sport Chrono package and a seven-speed PDK twin-clutch semi-automatic gearbox which, for the first time on a Porsche, allows the driver to change gears using paddles mounted behind the steering wheel. |
