| Ford Revises Focus ECOnetic | ||

(Tue 01 Dec 09) Five new versions of the low-CO2 Ford Focus ECOnetic will go on sale early next year. All are fitted with a 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine and various economy aids such as regenerative charging (which increases alternator output during braking), but the headline model is the one with Ford of Europe's first start/stop system, which has a CO2 rating of just 99g/km and combined fuel economy of 74.2mpg.
Prices have not yet been announced, but this is likely to be the most expensive of the five-door hatchback models in the range. If purchase price is more important than running costs, there's also a non-stop/start version with the same 108bhp engine which manages 70.6mpg and 104g/km (slightly better than the current ECOnetic). A less powerful 89bhp model has the same official figures but will probably be more economical in the real world. That's three models so far. The other two are estate versions of the non-stop/start cars, which have the same figures as their hatchback equivalents. |
