(Mon 07 Dec 09) Toyota has revised its Hilux pickup for the 2010 model year. The most common engine in the range remains the 2.5-litre turbo diesel, but this has had a dramatic increase in maxmimum power from the previous 118bhp to 142bhp, bringing the 0-62mph down to 12.5 seconds. CO2 emissions remain as before, however, at 219g/km.
That engine is used in the HL2 model, which comes in Single Cab, Extra Cab and Double Cab forms and has air-conditioning, ABS, front airbags and a CD/MP3 player as standard. The Double Cab is also available as an HL3, which comes with alloy wheels, front foglights, rear privacy glass, a Thatcham Category 1 alarm, a multi-information display screen and a certain amount of exterior chrome and interior leather. The range-topping model is the Invincible, available only in Double Cab form. The Invincible has a three-litre engine, Vehicle Stability Control and a limited slip differential, and standard equipment includes larger alloy wheels (17" rather than the 16" on the HL3), "premium" front seats, climate control air-conditioning, cruise control, chrome side bars and side and curtain airbags. The Invincible is also the only Hilux which can be ordered with automatic transmission in place of the standard five-speed manual gearbox. Prices (not including VAT) range from £15,145 for the HL2 Single Cab to £20,545 for the Invincible automatic. At extra cost, the HL3 and Invincible can be supplied with satellite navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, a Sport Deck and an Urban Pack (consisting of a front guard, scuff plates and front and rear parking sensors), while the Invincible also has two-tone grey leather upholstery as an option. |
