(Mon 21 Dec 09) BMW has given details of its second electric car, following on from the MINI E. Based on the 1-Series coupé, this one is called the Concept ActiveE, and it has a 170bhp electric motor which gives it a 0-62mph time of, in BMW's phrase, "less than nine seconds". Top speed is limited to 90mph and, as with the MINI E, the maximum range in normal driving is expected to be around 100 miles.
It's too early to talk about production just yet, but as with the MINI, the Concept ActiveE will be made available for field testing to gauge its suitability for eventual sale to the public.
