(Fri 06 Feb 09) In our launch report of the MiTo we said that it was being put forward as a challenger to the MINI, and Alfa Romeo has now taken the attack a stage further by quoting a few statistics from industry expert CAP's February 2009 report.
According to CAP, the MiTo likely to hold its value most effectively is the 1.3 JTDM diesel Veloce, which should be worth 81% of its list price after one year/10,000 miles and 49% after three years/60,000 miles. The 1.6 JTDM Veloce's resale value performance is estimated to be 1% lower in each case. By contrast, the best-performing MINI is expected to be worth 76% of its list price after a year, and model-by-model each MiTo is reckoned to be worth more after a similar period than its closest MINI rival. It's worth pointing out, though, that MiTos are cheaper to buy than MINIs, so their prices have slightly less far to fall. But CAP's estimates are still good news for a company famed in the past for plummeting residual values. |
