(Mon 19 Jan 09) A new entry-level version of the MINI Clubman estate will go on sale in the UK this spring.
The One Clubman uses the 95bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine already available in the MINI hatchback. This unit gives the car a top speed of 114mph and a 0-62mph time of 11.6 seconds, while combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions are 52.3mpg and 130g/km respectively. The latter figures are not substantially better than those of the 120bhp 1.6-litre Cooper, but the One is likely to have a greater economy advantage in the real world than it does in the official tests. Air-conditioning is standard on the new car, as it has been on every MINI since January 1 this year. The One Clubman is priced at £13,290. MINI dealers are taking orders now, though the car will not be officially unveiled until the Geneva Show on March 3, and the UK on-sale date is March 28.
