(Tue 20 Jan 09) The Cadillac CTS-V high-performance saloon, the most powerful production car the company has ever built, will go on sale in the UK next month costing from £56,495.
The CTS-V uses a supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine which produces 556bhp and gives the manual-transmission version of the car a top speed of 191mph and a 0-62mph time of 3.9 seconds. As previously reported, the Cadillac completed a lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife race circuit in just under eight minutes last October, setting what is believed to be a new record for a production saloon car. Standard equipment includes Magnetic Ride Control suspension (using electro-magnets rather than mechanical valves in the shock absorbers), huge Brembo brakes, 14-way adjustable Recaro seats, leather and suede upholstery and a voice-activated "infotainment" package including iPod integration and a 40GB hard drive. An automatic-transmission CTS-V, with a top speed of 175mph, is also being offered at a price of £58,995. |
