(Wed 10 Jun 09) The swooping lines pictured here are all Bentley is prepared to show of its latest model. Not yet named, it is being described as a "grand Bentley", "the purest expression of the Bentley spirit" and "exceptional in all respects on the road" - the last of these being a near-quote of Bentley's first customer Noel van Raalte, who took delivery of his 3-Litre model in 1921 even though the price had gone up from the initial £750 to £1150.
Bentley is saying almost nothing about the new car, but it's safe to assume it will cost more than £1150. It will be the company's ultimate model, positioned above the existing Arnage, which has a list price on the high side of £200,000. Customers are unlikely to get much change out of a quarter of a million pounds. Despite all the current secrecy, the new Bentley may be on sale as little as a year from now. Further details are expected in the next few weeks. |
