(Fri 26 Jun 09) Renault is to introduce special versions of the Clio, Megane hatch and Megane Coupé named after its World Series motor racing championship.
All are based on the Dynamique trim level but are fitted with extra body styling equipment (and, in the case of the Meganes, 17" alloy wheels) which are supplied at a lower cost than if you ordered them as optional extras on a standard Dynamique. And they all have a choice of engines; the Clio, for example, gets Renault's 1.2-litre petrol unit in standard or turbocharged forms, or a 1.5-litre dCi turbo diesel, while the Meganes come with either a more powerful version of the 1.5 diesel or a 110bhp 1.6 petrol engine. Starting prices are £12,170 for the Clio, £16,595 for the Megane hatch and £16,995 for the Megane Coupé. The cars will be available to order on July 1, and will appear in showrooms on July 6, which happens to be the day after the World Series by Renault visits Silverstone for its UK round.
