(Tue 03 Mar 09) The most important model on Land Rover's stand at the Geneva Show is the revised Freelander. The new TD4_e features a stop/start system on all diesel manual models, giving combined fuel economy of 42.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 179g/km, figures which would have seemed all but impossible from any Land Rover just a few years ago.
Standard equipment on all Freelanders includes seven airbags, heated and electrically adjustable door mirrors, air-conditioning, Roll Stability Control and Dynamic Stability Control. The middle trim levels, called GS and XS, now have Bluetooth mobile phone integration, an Alpine audio system and heated front seats, and cost £24,525 and £27,995 respectively. The other models are the entry-level S, which costs £21,295, and the range-topping HSE, with Napoli leather upholstery, electrically adjustable seats with memory function, a fancier audio system, humidity-sensing climate control air-conditioning and various other goodies, which costs £32,595.
Also making its debut at Geneva is the Range Rover Westminster Limited Edition. On sale in the UK from the end of this month, and costing £62,995, it features 20" wheels, an exterior design pack, a half-wood steering wheel and a choice of Santorini Black or Stornoway Grey paintwork, or - for a further £1000 - metallic Marina Black.
