(Fri 13 Mar 09) Porsche's four-seat coupé, the Panamera, will go on sale in the UK on September 12 at prices starting from £72,266.
The range starts with the rear-wheel drive Panamera S, which has a 400bhp 4.8-litre V8 petrol engine giving a top speed of 176mph, a 0-62mph time of 5.4 seconds, combined fuel consumption of 26.2mpg and 253g/km of CO2 emissions. Those figures assume the optional fitment of a PDK double-clutch gearbox, costing £2289 - a six-speed manual transmission is supplied as standard. The mid-range car is the £77,269 Panamera 4S, which is basically the same except that both PDK and four-wheel drive are standard. It's slightly less economical and has a marginally lower top speed, but the 0-62mph is 0.4 seconds better. And then comes the Panamera Turbo, which also has PDK and four-wheel drive plus adaptive suspension. Twin turbochargers boost the power to 500bhp, giving a top speed of 188mph and 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds. For a sporty Porsche (as opposed to the Cayenne SUV), the Panamera is quite practical, with luggage volume of 445 litres with the rear seats in place - or 432 litres in the case of the Turbo - extending to 1250 litres with the seats folded. Porsche's ceramic composite brake system is offered as an option, but the Vehicle Tracking System and a Porsche Driving Experience course at Silverstone are both included in the price. |
