(Tue 17 Mar 09) Peugeot has confirmed that its latest coupé-convertible, the 308 CC, will go on sale in the UK on June 1 at prices starting from £19,495.
There are three trim levels, with Sport and GT representing the bottom and top of the range, but most of the interest is in the SE line-up. SE cars get 17" alloy wheels compared with the Sport's 16s and an upgraded audio, plus automatic headlights and wipers, a dimming interior mirror, ambient lighting, rear parkings sensors, cruise control, climate control air-conditioning and an alarm. The GT is the really fancy one, with 18" wheels, leather upholstery, a windbreaker, a tyre pressure sensor, front parking sensors, the Airwave neck heating system (for top-down motoring) and Peugeot's Connect HiFi system. There are two petrol engines - 150bhp turbo and 120bhp non-turbo versions of the same 1.6-litre unit - and two turbo diesels producing 110bhp and 140bhp. Manual transmission is standard, though you can have an automatic gearbox with the more powerful petrol and diesels (but only when their power outputs are slightly reduced). The full engine line-up is available only for the SE. The Sport gets the 110bhp diesel and the 120bhp petrol, while the GT gets the others. The cheapest model, as you'll have guessed by now, is the 120bhp petrol Sport, which is the only one costing less than £20,000, while the range-topper is the 140bhp diesel GT at £24,295. Slightly complicating the whole issue, there's yet another version called the GT100. This is exclusive to the UK, only 100 will be built (split 50/50 between Pearl White and Nera Black colour schemes), and unlike all the others it can be bought in May. Standard equipment includes the 150bhp petrol engine, an Electric Pack (including electric seat adjustment), lots of GT100 branding and a personalised leather-bound pack commemorating the purchase. |
