(Thu 26 Mar 09) This is the first official picture of Hyundai concept known as the BLUE-WILL, which is due to make its debut at the Seoul Motor Show next week.
It's a plug-in hybrid which uses a 1.6-litre direct petrol injection engine, a CVT transmission and an electric motor producing the equivalent of around 130bhp. Power for the motor comes from a Lithium Ion Polymer battery pack (similar to the one Hyundai will be putting into production this summer in the Elantra LPI Hybrid) which is mounted alongside the fuel tank to help maximise luggage space. The BLUE-WILL also has solar cells in the panoramic sunroof for a completely emission-free form of electricity generation. Recycled soft drink bottles provide the material for the headlight bezels, while the engine cover and some of the interior are made of plant-derived biodegradable plastics. |
