(Wed 06 May 09) A new high-performance diesel version of the Volkswagen Scirocco is available to order now. The existing Scirocco diesel uses VW's 138bhp 2.0 TDI engine, but the new one is substantially more powerful with a maximum output of 168bhp.
This gives it a 0-62mph time of 8.1 seconds (about the same as the 1.4 TSI) and a top speed, with the standard six-speed manual gearbox, of 138mph. Combined fuel economy for the manual is 53.3mpg and the CO2 emissions are rated at 139g/km. With the optional six-speed DSG gearbox the Scirocco still has the same 0-62mph time, but top speed drops to 136mph, while the economy and CO2 figures are 50.4mpg and 147g/km respectively. Available only in high-spec GT form, the new car costs £21,755, or £23,060 if fitted with DSG. |
