(Mon 23 Nov 09) Subaru has always performed well in tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in America, and it has continued to do so in the latest study.
Following a series of frontal, side, rear and rollover crash tests, the IIHS gave its Top Safety Pick award to every Subaru tested, namely the Impreza, Legacy, Outback, Forester and Tribeca. No other manufacturer achieved such across-the-board success. Vehicles which are even considered for IIHS testing are already among the safest on US roads. They are required to have roofs more than twice as strong as the current minimum requirement, and must be fitted with ESP, or VDC as Subaru calls it. Comment on this story on Facebook or Twitter.
