(Mon 14 Sep 09) Owners of the more sober models in the Lexus IS range can now make their cars look more like the high-performance IS F thanks to the introduction of an F-Sport styling package.
The kit includes a front grille and rear spoiler (both available in all standard body colours), exclusive 18" alloy wheels, new seats and steering wheel and, where appropriate, a restyled automatic gearlever. The interior trim is black, with contrasting grey stitching for the seats and steering wheel. Meanwhile, the IS F itself has been uprated for the 2010 model year. The five-litre V8 engine and eight-speed automatic gearbox, which help propel the car fom 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 168mph, remain the same as before, but now the F has a limited slip differential which improves traction and, we're told, takes two seconds off the F's lap time round Fuji International Speedway. The F is also now available with a new interior colour scheme called Fuji White (though the bottom section of the steering wheel is blue), plus Ultra Blue exterior paintwork and new buffed-finish 19" alloy wheels. Furthermore, Lexus has added three audio systems to the IS range - two with a 6-CD changer, steering wheel-mounted controls and either eight or 13 speakers, plus a 14-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound system - and a 40GB hard disc satellite navigation system with local traffic information across Europe.
