Land Rover Confirms LRX

(Thu 24 Sep 09)

Having displayed various concept versions at international Shows starting with Detroit 2008, Land Rover has confirmed that the LRX will go into production in 2011.

Land Rover LRX Concept 06.

It's described as "the smallest, lightest and most efficient vehicle the company has ever produced", though whether or not a 60mpg, 120g/km diesel-electric hybrid model (much discussed last year) will be included in the line-up remains to be seen.

What is more certain is that the car will probably be built at Halewood in Merseyside, subject to quality and productivity agreements, and that it will be sold in more than 100 countries with Range Rover rather than Land Rover badging.
