(Wed 10 Feb 10) Jaguar has revised the XF range for what it is already calling the 2011 model year (doesn't time fly?), and most of the changes relate to the 271bhp Diesel S.
The interior of the Diesel S is now more closely based on that of the XFR, and like the more powerful model it also now comes with black mesh inserts for the grille. The rest of the improvements on the Diesel S come in the form of optional extras, perhaps the most significant of which is an Advanced Dynamics system - basically a set of suspension revisions involving computerised control of the dampers and intended to improve the handling and body control. We like that, because impressive as the XF is, its handling and body control have never been its best features. Adaptive Dynamics is available on its own, or as part of the new Dynamics Pack, which also includes 20" wheels and costs around £1250. There's also an Aerodynamic Pack which makes the Diesel S look more like an XFR; it costs £1500, or £2000 if you specify LED daytime running lights. The XF is now available in Polaris White paintwork (the previous Porcelain colour having been deleted), and thanks to some price revision it's now possible to buy one of these cars for under £30,000 - the 3.0 V6 Petrol Luxury now costs £29,900. The Diesel S costs between £38,475 and £45,475, depending on which trim level you choose, and the top model is the 5.0 V8 Supercharged at £62,055.
