(Tue 16 Feb 10) Peugeot is not exactly known for its large luxury cars, at least in this country (how many 607s have you seen recently?), but its latest concept shows that it doesn't want to ignore that section of the market.
The 5 By Peugeot is just such a machine, and we think it looks rather good. It also has an intriguing specification. Using the Hybrid4 technology which will come to market in 2011 with the launch of a special 3008, the 5 By Peugeot uses a two-litre turbo diesel engine driving the front wheels and an electric motor driving the rears. The total power output is 200bhp, which should lead to reasonable performance even in a car of this size (it's just short of five metres long) but Peugeot claims that combined fuel economy and CO2 emissions should be 74.3mpg and 99g/km respectively.
